Golf will smile to 5,030 children

Once more Juan Pablo Montoya convenes more than 140 amateur golfers to give their best swing for the children of the Formula Smiles Foundation.

The Formula Smiles Foundation, led by the Colombian driver and his wife Connie Freydell, will host the fourth edition of its charitable golf tournament, which seeks to raise funds to continue working in its social initiative for the poorest children and communities of the country.

This Friday the 21st and Saturday the 22nd, more than 140 golfers will meet in the golf course of the San Andrés Golf Club de Funza. They will not only measure their strength, but will also be contributing with their inscription so that the children of the San Andres Islands have the opportunity, thanks to the sport, of a more promising future, away from drugs. This Project will be inaugurated next week with the sponsorship of Chevron Texaco, with which the Foundation will complete its fourth project in Colombia.

Besides the amateurs, the best golfer of the country, Camilo Villegas, will be present giving his best swing in favor of the children of the Foundation. The golfer from Antioquia will play with the driver from Bogotá, Juan Pablo Montoya; they will repeat foursome given that 2 years ago they united to support this charitable event about golf.

And while the amateur golfers fulfill their dream of facing the best golfer in the country, other honor guests will also fulfill theirs. They are 15 children from Cuidad Bolivar that the Foundation invited so that they could fulfill their dream of knowing a golf course. The majority of them are from the country, children of “reinsertados” and former combatants.

At 9:00 am the first hit will be given. The tournament will be played in foursomes, which means in groups of four integrants, in the scramble modality in which the best hit of the four is chosen for each hole and 20% of the sum of the four handicaps is played. All of this to create a more equal and hard-fought game. During the 2 days the participants will receive luxurious prices from Taylormade Adidas, Oakley, and Tag Heuer; and will also have the opportunity of winning a Chevrolet Aveo donated by Autoniza, which will be delivered in a contest carried out in the 18th hole.

The IV golf charitable tournament will be realized thanks to enterprises committed to the education and sports of the most vulnerable children in the country. As principal donors: Stanford Financial Group, Taylormade Adidas, Texaco/Havoline, besides La Estacion, L´BEL, Oakley, Club Colombia, Aero República, Tag Heuer, Nokia, Diageo, Le Collezioni, Autoniza, Club Car, Pecorino, Café Tostion and San Andrés Golf Club.
