Give to Colombia: Give to Colombia, Inc. (G2C) is a US-based non-profit organization that creates, promotes and facilitates alliances between international donors and the private, public, and social sectors, in order to provide enduring and scalable solutions to the most vulnerable sectors and populations of Colombia’s society. G2C works as an umbrella organization, representing the most outstanding initiatives in Colombia, and acts as a transparent vehicle through which donors can effectively channel funds and receive reliable financial and programmatic reporting and monitoring information. Through its close relationships with Colombian NGOs, G2C facilitates the development of highimpact, social projects that are based on cross-sector collaborations and implemented by local organizations that are efficient, transparent and experts in their fields. Angela Maria Tafur: Give to Colombia’s founder. Lawyer from the Bogotá’s Javeriana University with a specialization in International Law from the Cornell University. Angela was an International Public Law teacher and worked with companies such as Superbancaria, Supervalores, Corfivalle, Bancolombia and Gilinski Group.
FORMULA SONRISAS FOUNDATION: The Formula Sonrisas foundation objective is to improve life quality and the surroundings of Colombia’s most needy children by implementing a program that instills values thru sports and recreation. Their efforts are focus on promoting sports culture thru Colombian public schools so that the children wont feel they lack support and don’t have the necessary equipments to practice sports. Juan Pablo Montoya: Formula’s Sonrisas founder. Born in Bogota, Colombia where he grew up and started racing Karts since he was young with the help and guidance of his father. Montoya has achieved major success in worldwide motor racing specially in Formula categories. He has been the only driver that has won the CART championship, the Indy 500 and the Daytona 24 hours in his first try. He has also been the only pilot who has won the Monaco GP in Formula One and the Indy 500, and the only pilot in history that has raced Indianapolis in it’s three categories: Nascar, Formula One and Indy Car. In the present he is the pilot for Chip Ganassi’s team racing with Felix Sabates from Nextel Cup series.
Connie Freydell-Montoya: Formula Sonrisas President. Born in Medellin, Colombia and with a Law degree from Madrid’s San Pablo-CEU University. In October 2002 after her marriage with Juan Pablo Montoya, they decided to create a foundation that benefits children thru sports and can bring a smile to their faces. In November 2003 they launched their foundation in Cartagena, Colombia with the “Race of the Stars” event, which counted with the presence of the most important racers in the motor racing world. Since then, the foundation has participated in numerous charity events to raise awareness in poverty and conflict victims from Colombia.
COLOMBIANITOS: Colombianitos is a non-profit foundation whose main mission is to help children that have been victims of the armed conflict in Colombia. Their search is focus on reducing the consequences of violence and terrorism from the most valuable of Colombia: its children. The organization takes advantage of their knowledge and effort to provide education, recreation and rehabilitation and offers the basic needs to the most needy children. Angela Patricia Janiot: Colombianitos founder. Born in Bucaramnga, Colombia. Before becoming one of the most recognized journalists in Colombia she participated in the National Beauty Pageant and got the second runner up title in 1983. Angela Patricia has a Journalism degree from the Bogotá’s Sabana University and an English degree from Cambridge University. In 1992 she joined the CNN network as one of their presenters in the International TV news. She has been with the spanish CNN network since its beginnings and today she is their main presenter and the vice presidency consultant. She has received important recognition thru her carrier such as the Golden Mike Award, the Simon Bolivar Award and a nomination to the Academy of the Arts and Television Science Emmy’s award.
United for Colombia: United for Colombia is a non-profit organization founded in 2003 with the aim of raising the financial support required to solve the needs of those civil and military who have suffered the mafia, war and terrorism consequences. UFC wants to make up a network with the Colombian community in the U.S and U.S citizens that want to help Colombia giving financial support to the disabled, victims of the armed conflict. Gabriela Febres Cordero: United for Colombia Founder. In her diplomatic condition as wife of Colombian ambassador in the United States she developed multiple initiatives in the fields of arts and support to social programs orientated to Colombian ethnic minorities and musical education for children. She has been a member in the board of directors of several companies in the private sector such as: Bellsouth-Colombia, Ceramicas Caribe-Venezuela, World Trade Center Association-New York and Banco Banesco-Venezuela. She’s been the communication consultant for American Airlines, Microsoft, Casa Luker, Bayer and Banco Santander among others and President of the World Trade Center of Caracas. She was also the Commercial representative of Venezuela, President of Venezuelan exportations fund, Director of the Fondo de la Corporacion Andina and an ambassador thru the Pacto Andino. She was the leader of several management positions such as Cementos del Caribe (Venezuela). Gabriela Febres Cordero has a Business degree, and she’s a University of San Francisco, California Cum Laude.
Genesis Foundation: Genesis mission is a result of its founders desire to express their gratitude and their intention to give back to communities that helped them achieve their success. Carolina Esquenazi: Genesis President and founder. Carolina is in charge of the execution of Genesis vision and management of the foundation. She began her carrier as a journalist in Colombia covering International PR mainly between Venezuela and the Middle East, then she worked for the radio in New York and for the Exterior Relations Council in Meddle East matters. She has a University of Columbia MBA degree and a Georgetown University bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Government; she also has a Columbia University Masters degree in Journalism and International Affairs.
Key for Colombia: Key for Colombia was founded in the year 2000 as a non-profit organization based in Florida with the purpose of helping children displaced from their communities and victims of puberty because of the armed conflict in Colombia. Their main focus is the areas of health, nutrition and education. At the moment they help seven organizations: Las Golondrinas (Medellin), Fundacion El Mana (La Ceja-Antioquia), Hospital Infantil Los Angeles (Patso), Amor, Paz y Alegria (Sincelejo), Logra un grado (Cali), Nutriinfantil (Bogota) and Plan de Apoyo Familiar (Cali) their motto is that a future of prosperity and peace in Colombia can only by achieve if you offer hope and the necessary tools to kids to obtain a better tomorrow.
Katalina Bernal: Key for Colombia’s President. Katalina was born in Cali, Colomba. She joins Key for Colombia four years ago as a volunteer until she became the President of the foundation. She has a Business degree in Babson University in Boston, Massachusetts.
Esteban Cortazar: Colombian designer. Born in Bogota, Colombia in the year 1984. When he was eleven years old he started to develop his taste and talent in the design world reason wh he decides to live in the United States. With only thirteen years he makes his first design and when he was fifteen he had his debut on the Miami Fashion Week. In 2002 Esteban launches his first collection under the name Cortazar and he sold his collection to New York’s most important boutiques. In 2003 with his second collection the closure of his Fashion Show is in charge of Top Model Cindy Crawford. He has shown his in prestigious magazines such as Vogue and W, he has appeared in the Oprah Winfrey Show, The New York Times, CNN, and ABC among others. Carlos Vives: Colombian singer and composer. Carlos was Born in Santa Marta, Colombia and although his beginnings were mostly in the field of acting it was his unique way of performing the Vallenato what gave him the international recognition of one of the most charismatic and loved ambassadors of Colombia. With Clasicos de la Provincia and the single La Gota Fria he gets to the heart of millions in Colombia. He had six Grammy Nominations and won one Grammy award for his album El amor de mi tierra and two Grammy Latino for Dejame entrar.
