Formula Smiles was nominated to an international award by a Spanish NGO
Thanks to the commitment of Juan Pablo Montoya and his wife Connie with the most vulnerable Colombia’s children, and the significant work they do with all their collaborators in the cities of Villavicencio, Cartagena and Ibagué, Formula Smiles was nominated, for second year in a row, to the ‘International Award to the Solidarity in Sports’, by the Spanish NGO Deporte y Desarrollo (Sports and Development).
With this award, the NGO tries to recognize the work of the people and institutions which looks for an improvement in the quality of life of the people, through sports.
Formula Smiles was nominated because of their program Educación + Deporte = La mejor Fórmula (Education + Sport = The Best Formula) in the city of Ibague, where they develop a soccer program that includes 120 kids of the most vulnerable neighbors. Besides, many of these kids are victims of infant work and violence inside their families, drugs and gangs.
The soccer team is divided in three categories: Pre-juvenile, Infants and Pre-infants. Every afternoon they gathered in the sand field to learn and be oriented by the teachers of Formula Smiles. These humble kids are thankful for the opportunity they receive to spend their time with healthy activities.
The great social and sports achievements forced the Formula Smiles to formalize this program as a Sport Club, which allows the interaction with other teams of Ibagué and other cities.
The award ceremony will be held in Spain next 26 of May. The winner will receive a commemorative plate, a whole pack with sports elements, and the most important: an invitation to Spain to participate in a sport tournament and also the chance to meet all the players of Real Madrid, one of the most recognized soccer teams in the world.
